- ... Our good, which seems to come to us from others, is but the reflex action of the good we have loosed or released into the world. Ah, yes! But what is the nature of the good that we are to release into the world, since it does not necessarily mean the amount we give to charity, or the human service that we give, or the sacrifices we have made for our country or our church? The good that we loose-we on the Spiritual Path-is the amount of truth that we understand about God and God manifest, and this is all summed up in the two great Commandments of the Master. First of all, we must loose or release the realization of the truth that God alone is Mind, that God alone is Love, that God alone is Life, that God alone is the True Being of individual being. This truth must be constant-it must be a constant state of awareness within us. The second Commandment is: "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Here we have many forms of love: first of all, the love that recognizes God as the individuality of all being. Then there is the love that operates as forgiveness, even unto seventy times seven. There is the love that forgives its enemies and even prays for those who despitefully use us. There is the love given in service to our fellow-man, in gifts to the right causes, in benevolences in the right directions-always, of course, when given out of pure love and with no thought of a return. In proportion as these two great Commandments fill our consciousness, we are casting our bread upon the waters and, naturally, this comes back to us in the form of good. Meanwhile, we are faced with all the appearances and personalities of relatives and friends and enemies. We must learn not to re-act, but to realize that any evil that is done will harm only the one who does it. Just as no good can come into our experience except through the good that we send out, be assured that the opposite-the evil or the materialism that we hold in thought-also comes back to plague us, because it is written, ". . . ...

It is accepted absolutely as it stands in the revelation of Jesus: I am life eternal; I am the way, the truth, and the light. I am the resurrection-not, I will be resurrected, not that there is some kind of a law of God which is going to act upon me, but I am the resurrection. I am the bread-not, I will be supplied with bread, but I am the bread; I am the water; I am the wine. When you stand on that, you stand on the revelation that you are infinite spiritual consciousness, infinite spiritual life itself, and being infinite, all inclusive and including within your own being every activity of Being. Those born into the consciousness of the first chapter of Genesis have neither father nor mother. They are the Melchizedek-consciousness: they are not physical offspring, and they have no human parentage. They are incorporeal. But those born of human parents are born into the level of the second-chapter- of-Genesis creation, the world of mind, the mortal consciousness of good and evil, which constitutes humanhood. It is this humanhood that makes us think that by destroying our enemy or competitor we can live and prosper, or that by taking away somebody's freedom we can become greater. A leaven is necessary to break through the crust of self-preservation. This leaven is the Spirit of God in man, which, when It * is raised up, lifts man to Its level; and then, instead of "man, whose breath is in his nostrils," 1 we now have the son of God, that man who has his being in Christ. We are to relax, to rest, in this consciousness, the creative Principle of life, the Reality of life, the Omnipresence, Omnipotence, and Omniscience that Is within me. Closer than breathing Is the Selfhood of me. Relax in It and let It perform Its work. Your mind is something you possess and your body is something you possess. The mind is not you; the body is not you. I am you, and I was given a mind and a body through which to perform your functions on earth. The mind is that instrument which you use for thinking purposes, reasoning purposes, or any purpose of awareness. Through your mind you become aware, through your mind you know, through your mind you think, through your mind you receive decisions or make judgements. The body is a physical instrument and it takes its orders from you through the mind. I say to this hand, "Up," and the mind communicates that to the hand and the hand obeys the mind, which in turn obeys me. I have dominion over the mind and over the body. But suppose I do not exercise that dominion which was given to me by God in the beginning, and suppose I turn to the mind for its judgements or to the body for its conduct. I would soon be in all kinds of trouble, just as those who have not learned to accept their dominion over mind and body are in trouble much of the time. The mind was given to you, the body was given to you. When you sit down to meditate, the mind does not wish to come under control, not because it has a wish or will of its own, but only because you haven't assumed dominion and it is accustomed to doing what it wants. I'm afraid it's much like the horses I've ridden: they don't acknowledge my control a bit, they just take me where they want to go. Sit back and, in silence, create a kind of vacuum for God, for the Christ, to rush in. Sit down and relinquish the thought that the human mind is a healer: Christ is the healer. The essence of the whole work we are doing is this: God is. God is so let God work in us and through us to Its own end, and as Its own creation. We lose all sense of tension when we realize that our health, wealth and happiness are not in these forms, but that our freedom is of the Christ as we open our consciousness to Its inflow: Christ is imparting Itself eternally as my consciousness and I am receptive to Its consciousness which is the embodiment of all that is. All that is, is good, and since God made all that was made, I am the very embodiment of that good. I am the state of receptivity as which that infinite Being is expressing Itself. As individual consciousness, I am responsive only to the Christ, and nothing can enter that consciousness to defile or make it a lie. There is only one Consciousness, God, and that is my individual consciousness now. As we meditate on this truth of receptivity to the Christ, we shall find that all the Christ is pours Itself forth as our individual consciousness. "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was." 1 It makes no difference whether it is a truth- message, whether it is selling or buying, manufacturing or farming. The thing that counts is that what we are doing is animated by the Spirit and carries with it the life and vitality of the Soul. If what we are doing carries with it this spiritual spark, it will prosper, it will succeed, it will make glad, it will make happy, it will satisfy and it will be of good report. Spirit always satisfies. Spirit always fulfills Itself; Spirit always completes Itself in success. Here, in the beginning of this new day, God takes over. Here God becomes the directing influence of my day. I dedicate this day to maintaining the integrity of my own being, and I promise myself that insofar as I am given Grace, I will not violate my own integrity, my own higher sense of right." While we are making our physical preparations for the day, there is no reason why we should give thought to the problems of the day. Sufficient unto the hour is the evil of the hour.
