- ... In living the truly Christ life, the spiritual or mystical life, the motivating and guiding impulse of our experience must be that of love. We must develop ourselves to the point where we hold no one in judgment, and where we entertain no feeling of separation from our fellow-man. This does not mean that we will not have individual opinions, nor does it mean that we will agree with some teaching which our intelligence cannot accept. It does not mean giving up our individuality, or our sense of right or wrong, but it does mean that by giving up our sense of judgment we permit each man to go his own way and to follow his own convictions. But we must love him just the same, seeing that the basic spiritual principle is God. In other words, despite any disagreement on the human level of life let us understand, within ourselves, that we are one in Christ, regardless of race, color, national, political or religious affiliations or convictions. Whatever we or others do that does not conform to this standard must not bring forth criticism, judgment or condemnation, but in every case forgiveness. As the Master might have said, "Neither do I condemn thee nor sit in judgment upon thee-who made me a judge over anyone?" So by closing our eyes to the physical appearance we can agree that, spiritually, we are one with each other; we are one with every individual on the face of the globe because of our Sonship in God, our Brotherhood in Christ. In that consciousness of love in which there is neither judgment, criticism nor fear, all sense of opposition to error fades, and in fading, all discord fades with it because discord is nothing more nor less than a false sense entertained within our own being. This false sense is not one for which we are necessarily responsible, because every one who has ever been born is a victim of universal belief until, through some activity of his own consciousness, he begins to understand that God is the creative principle of his being. The only way we can dissolve them into the eternal now is to rise above the human way, the human mind, the human will, the human soul or consciousness into the Divine, and there become so at-one with It that It becomes our awareness-It becomes us. It is for this reason that I ask those who are serious students of The Infinite Way to meditate not less than three times a day. In the chapter entitled "Meditation" in the book The Infinite Way, there is an outline of some process of thought that should engage us from the first moment when we awaken in the morning. I recommend that before anyone steps his foot out of bed that he lie there for one, two, three or five minutes and ponder the idea of the omnipresence of God. "Here where I am, God is. Here, in the beginning of this new day, God takes over. Here God becomes the directing influence of my day. I dedicate this day to the work of the Father; I dedicate this day to the life of the Father. In this day I hold within myself no condemnation, no criticism, no judgment, no faultfinding, but insofar as it lies within my power-love, forgiveness, understanding and co- operation. I dedicate this day to maintaining the integrity of my own being, and I promise myself that insofar as I am given Grace, I will not violate my own integrity, my own higher sense of right." While we are making our physical preparations for the day, there is no reason why we should give thought to the problems of the day. Sufficient unto the hour is the evil of the hour. While we are making our preparations we can again contemplate the idea of God-the idea of God being the only presence and the only power; the idea that only God can bring something to our attention during the day; the idea that only God will be active in us, or in those we contact during the day. - ... Our good, which seems to come to us from others, is but the reflex action of the good we have loosed or released into the world. Ah, yes! But what is the nature of the good that we are to release into the world, since it does not necessarily mean the amount we give to charity, or the human service that we give, or the sacrifices we have made for our country or our church? The good that we loose-we on the Spiritual Path-is the amount of truth that we understand about God and God manifest, and this is all summed up in the two great Commandments of the Master. First of all, we must loose or release the realization of the truth that God alone is Mind, that God alone is Love, that God alone is Life, that God alone is the True Being of individual being. This truth must be constant-it must be a constant state of awareness within us. The second Commandment is: "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Here we have many forms of love: first of all, the love that recognizes God as the individuality of all being. Then there is the love that operates as forgiveness, even unto seventy times seven. There is the love that forgives its enemies and even prays for those who despitefully use us. There is the love given in service to our fellow-man, in gifts to the right causes, in benevolences in the right directions-always, of course, when given out of pure love and with no thought of a return. In proportion as these two great Commandments fill our consciousness, we are casting our bread upon the waters and, naturally, this comes back to us in the form of good. Meanwhile, we are faced with all the appearances and personalities of relatives and friends and enemies. We must learn not to re-act, but to realize that any evil that is done will harm only the one who does it. Just as no good can come into our experience except through the good that we send out, be assured that the opposite-the evil or the materialism that we hold in thought-also comes back to plague us, because it is written, ". . . ...

- ... It is only as the Word of God is entertained within us, dwelt upon and remembered that the spiritual activities and spiritual qualities are brought into expression in our lives. The Master, Christ Jesus, gave us the secret in the fifteenth chapter of John, in which He reveals our relationship to God-"I am the vine, ye are the branches, and my Father is the husbandman." He goes on to say that great joy and peace will be ours; no evil and no harm can come near us; there will be nothing to fear "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you. . . ." The practical working of this means that we are to take the Word of God into our consciousness, into our minds and into our thoughts, and many times throughout the day, quietly and silently and within our inner being, remind ourselves of this Word of God. There are many times when we believe that we have need of money or companionship or help from others, and humanly we do. Perhaps we feel that we need a greater sense of love in our homes and businesses, or a greater sense of forgiveness and understanding of those with whom we are associated. There is a simple way in which all these needs can be met, yet one which will enable us to do everything we are called upon to do without fear, without doubt and without anxiety. For today, let us take this Word of God into our consciousness: "My grace is sufficient for thee . . . our sufficiency is of God," and whenever a need becomes apparent or there seems to be a lack or limitation, remember that this is our assurance that Thy Grace is my sufficiency-in all things, and watch how our every need in the world of practical every-day affairs will be met through the realization of the great truth of this Word of God. "My grace is sufficient for thee," and as we take this spiritual truth into our thought and ponder it and meditate upon it several times a day, we are taking the Word of God into our Soul as if it were a seed, and we let this Word of God take root, and eventually flower forth ...
