Living Now is one of Joel S. Goldsmith’s most exciting books, contemporary and far reaching in its vision of the true life of freedom. The author opens with as powerful a description of the life lived in Spirit as can be found in present day language today, laying out the premise that there is a center within each person, which he calls “the son of God in us.” He states, “This son of God, the I that I am, is our food, shelter, protection, fortress, hiding place, and our abiding place, embodying all the good necessary to our experience throughout the years. At this very moment, we possess all that will unfold as our experience for all the days to come: it is embodied and embraced within our consciousness, and day by day it will unfold and appear as necessary in our human experience. All that God has is ours now.”
For Mr. Goldsmith, a spiritual teaching was empty if it were merely a presentation of lofty words about God. To this end, the author, having laid out a vision of the life of spiritual sonship, seems as if to turn to the reader, stretch out his hand and say: “Let us see how we can make this more practical in our experience, and why it is that no person or circumstance can deprive us of health, wealth, harmony, joy, and freedom.”
Chapter by chapter then, Goldsmith lays out, practically, simply and profoundly, what it means to journey toward the life of harmony and spiritual freedom. Emphasizing the realization of God’s presence as the one essential for such a journey, the author gives clear, incisive and patient instruction in all aspects of the spiritual experience, including receptivity, divine relationships, release from fear, the nature of evil, givingness, meditation, resurrection, karmic law and the power of divine Grace.
