Our Spiritual Resources
About the Book:
|
Our Spiritual Resources is one of the great 20th century mystic Joel S. Goldsmith’s most treasured books. Of the Goldsmith library, this volume presents one of the clearest descriptions of how to achieve a spiritual life of raised consciousness. Goldsmith gives an overview, saying, “This message reveals how sincere seekers can attain some measure of this spiritual consciousness, and thereby bring joy, peace, health, and abundance to themselves and to all who can forsake the scramble for things in order to attain the awareness of the invisible substance of things and conditions. He continues, “Our Spiritual Resources is devoted to the actual revelation and unfolding of this transcendental consciousness through the understanding of scripture and meditation”.
Each chapter of this volume explains an important aspect of spiritual living, which when practiced is harmonious and fulfilling. “God is pouring Itself forth and expressing Itself as harmonious being and as a harmonious universe. The world, however, is not enjoying the harmony of that universe or the harmony of God’s being,…” he writes, and shows the reader throughout this book how to once more become one with the harmony that is truly ours and will transform our lives.
Many people believe that the spiritual life is not practical, but Goldsmith emphasizes that living spiritually is the most sensible and practical way to live. He points out that everything comes from the invisible and that within each one of us is an invisible law in operation which can be applied to all aspects of our life. As he says “The truth of the matter is that there is nothing more practical, progressive, or prosperous than a life lived in accordance with the Spirit. For example, the person imbued with the Spirit becomes a better businessman than the one depending wholly on his education or mental ability, just as the person imbued with God is a better musician or artist.” The great mistake we make is to think that our supply, safety, security, health come from outside of us, when in reality they come from within and Goldsmith goes to great lengths to show this.
How many of us truly realize that we have been given dominion over everything in this world? “If we do not take possession of our own life, and if we do not assume the dominion that God gave us, we are just like a limp cloth in the breeze which blows about any way the breeze wishes to carry it,” the author begins illustrating one of the most important principles in his spiritual message. “God gave us dominion over every circumstance, but we must exercise that dominion by an active, continuous consciousness of the truth of our oneness with God.” He never says that it is easy, but reminds us that we have to be knowing the truth constantly - praying without ceasing.
Our Spiritual Resources reveals that there are spiritual resources available to and in everyone. A life that was ordained by God from the beginning, that is harmonious and fulfilling, is available to anyone who is willing to practice the principles revealed. Every page in this book uncovers a truth that has been known by the great mystics of the world, but not known or understood by most people. Goldsmith writes of the truth that he says will set the world free, by showing the spiritual resources within every individual, saint or sinner, in the world. |

"If you abide in the conscious realization of omnipresence and stop trying to get God to do something for you, you will come into the benefit of the God-presence and the God-power which is never separate or apart from you.”
“We cannot enlighten God or invoke God, nor can we be worthy or deserving of God; we cannot entreat God, plead with God, or use God. God is closer to us than breathing; God’s grace is our sufficiency, and, relaxing from all mental strain and striving, God will declare Itself to us, within us.”
“Nothing has power but God, unless you make it so.”
“One second of God-realization will dispel any sin, any disease, or any fear that has ever existed on the face of the earth – but it must be God-realization and not just talk about God or preaching about God. God-experience must come to you, and that experience is what dispels the sins, diseases, and illusions of the world.”
“When you look at any person, you are not seeing the real person: you are seeing your concept of him, and there is nothing that you know about him that is true – not a thing.”
“If you find it difficult to forgive those who have offended you or yours, pray daily that God forgive them.”
“If anyone for a moment believes that the organs and functions of the body are not responding to the activity of his mind, he has not yet awakened to the basic truth of metaphysical practice which is that mind is the substance of the body.”
“If you are struggling with a sense of lack or limitation, you must begin to pour. If necessary, take a few pennies every day and give them away to somebody who can make use of them,…”
