PRINCIPLES OF THE INFINITE WAY

Joel Goldsmith's teaching was based on principles, that if constantly practiced would lead to enlightenment. These principles form the basis of his work. We are taking one principle for a period of time, with quotes and references for study. We started with the principle of omnipotence, one of the major principles, and now we are presenting the principle of omnipresence.

earlier principles:

- omnipresence
- omnipotence
- omniscience
impersonalization

OMNIPRESENCE

No Escape from Omnipresence

You, along with everyone else, have been mislead into believing the under certain conditions God is not present with you. If, for some reason of ignorance, you have sinned, do not believe that God has abandoned you. Do not accept it. God is omnipresence, and therefore, there is no escaping God, not even in sin. Or perhaps you have believed that there is some incurable disease and that this proves the absence of God. Do not believe it. The very belief in the absence of God perpetuates the belief in the presence and power of disease. Acknowledge Omnipresence, even if you are making your bed in hell:

Here where I am, God is. In spite of my sin, in spite of my disease, in spite of my lack or limitation, in spite of my unhappiness, God is omnipresent.

In the moment that you have the actual feel of this Presence, which is Omnipresence, in that very moment, these illusory appearances of sin, disease, death, lack, and limitation evaporate.

The experience of sin, disease, lack, and unhappiness is due to your acceptance of a sense of separation from God, and you will discover that when you have the experience of God's presence, no longer will there be the presence of any appearance of sin, disease, or unhappiness. These will evaporate.

The truth of man's inseparability from God has been truth “since before Abraham was.” The only reason there still remains evil, so-called, on earth is the lack of recognition and realization of this truth. In proportion as these principles have been realized in consciousness, men throughout all ages have found their spiritual freedom.

Sometimes the question is asked, “Why are so many people who have realized God still battling with the evils of this world?” The answer is that the tacit acceptance of the universal belief in two powers still persists. A person not aware of the basic principles of omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence may realize God, and at the same time be experiencing human error. That is what the Master referred to as “tares and the wheat” growing side by side. Many mystics throughout the ages have experienced the awareness of a Presence and Power, and yet they have gone through physical disease and material lack and limitation, all because they had not yet awakened to the truth that in the presence of God there is only the realization of spiritual Grace and in this Presence all else is nullified. From Seek Ye First , page 132.

Quotes:

“Only those are in lack who are not living in the constant acknowledgment of the omnipresence of God.”

“Remember this– it is the recognition and acknowledgment of the presence of God that brings God into tangible evidence, manifestation, and _expression.

OMNIPOTENCE

Specific Principles as Seeds: One Power

When you begin a study of the Infinite Way , you discover that there is somewhat of a system to it, that it is made up of specific principles…. One of these principles with which you will work and which will be responsible for most of the good that comes into your experience will be the principle which we usually call one power, but sometimes we call nonpower….

…In the human way of living, there are two powers. There is a power for good and a power for evil, just as the mind can be used for good purposes or for evil purposes, for unselfish or for selfish purposes. This is because in the human picture there are always the pairs of opposites. …everyone uses the power of good sometimes and the power of evil at other times. No one is immune from the pairs of opposites….In the human picture, you are always dealing with two powers. When you come to a spiritual revelation, however, you will discover that the secret of the Spirit is that there is only one power.

From Jesus' spiritual outlook, disease had no power….In every case, he just acknowledged that God is the only power and that this appearance he was facing was not a power at all. He did not acknowledge a power of lack; he never acknowledged a power of disease; he never acknowledged a power of sin;… He just said, “Neither do I condemn thee.” In other words, there is no power in this.

Where Is Power?

You should face every situation in life from the standpoint that no situation has any power…. As you begin to look out at this world of appearances and remember all the appearances of evil that you can think about or have read about in the paper today, heard about on the air, or that you know about among your friends or family, try to remember the only reason these conditions persist is that persons believe they have power… Then you will see how revolutionary this idea is in your own consciousness. You cannot at the moment even imagine the depth of this unfoldment, nor can you imagine the effect of it in your life when you begin to accept within yourself that out here there is no power:

All power is within me, and it does not have to be used, because there is nothing out here on which to use it or use it against.

OMNISCIENCE

Omniscience Changes Your Way of Praying

What happens when you accept God as omniscience? Omniscience means all-knowledge, all-wisdom, all-intelligence, all-knowing. Watch how you enter a new way of life when you accept the truth of omniscience. How will you pray when you know that God already knows? What do you think you are going to tell God? What would you like to tell Him in your prayer? Would you like to tell Him that you are praying for Mrs Jones? Are you going to tell God Mrs Jones has rheumatism? No, the right to tell God anything has now been taken away from you.

Try to think what your prayer would be if you were called upon to pray for yourself or anyone else and were faced with the truth that God is the all-knowing, the infinite wisdom, the all-intelligence. Is there anything left to tell God? So your prayer would be a settling down somewhat like this: "There is no use in my speaking to the Father. The Father knows. My whole inner attitude is changed because now I have no message for God. I have nothing to tell divine Intelligence. I sit here in the realization that the Father already knows what things I came here to pray for. All I can do is sit here until somehow, some way, something within me stirs and tells me that the prayer is answered, the prayer that I never had to speak or think, the prayer that I never had to voice or write".

This is a way of life. You have to train yourself to be able to sit in quietness and in confidence and receive divine grace without asking for It, in the full confidence of the Master*s words: "Your heavenly Father knoweth." Your whole function is to be still. In quietness and in confidence you will receive you answer.

If God is omnipotent and omniscient, all-power and all-wisdom, what chance would anyone have to influence God to do something that God is not at this second doing? Do you think that by taking thought you could make God do something that God is not now doing? Do you think you could make God do something that God is not now doing? Do you think you could move God out of Its orbit and hold back the sunlight for five minutes for some reason or other, or have the sun set five minutes sooner or later? Could you influence God to heal somebody? Do you believe that if God had any awareness of disease He would not do the healing before you spoke to Him? Be assured, since God is the all-knowing, God is not waiting for someone to tell Him that Mrs Jones needs to be healed of rheumatism. - Spiritual Discernment: the Healing Consciousness.

Quotes:

"How many prayers are being uttered in which God is being told what we need, what this country needs, or what some other country needs, or some families! All of this is a denial of omniscience."
-Seek Ye First, page 111.

"With that one word alone, omniscience, you will be less of a human being and more the son of God..."
-A Message for the Ages, page 79.

Take no anxious or fearful thought, but rather go within and then become aware of the infinite invisible as the source of all inspiration, all good, all activity, all life, business, art and talent.
-God Formed Us for His Glory, page 123.

Through our consciousness, we have access to the infinite All-knowing, which is ever-present and the only power, and we are immediately in touch with the necessary wisdom to bring about the solution.
-Living Between Two Worlds, page 100.

God does not hear our words or read our thoughts, but God does know the intents of our heart, and God is omniscience.

IMPERSONALIZATION

There have been people all through the ages who have known there was a God and who have been close to God, yet they have never achieved a personal demonstration of health and harmony. What I am about to tell you now is vitally important, even more important than simply feeling a sense of closeness to God and knowing that you are spiritual….

The first half of our work is right identification, which is, realizing our spiritual identity and the infinity of our own being. The second half has to do with the impersonalization of error-not pinning evil onto a person and then trying to get rid of it. Remember the problem is that somebody is hypnotized and, in his state of hypnotism, is asking you to remove his “white poodle.” Do not be in a hurry to rush out to do this because that will be a clear indication that you, too, are hypnotized, and that then would be a case of the blind leading the blind.

The only way you can help is by keeping yourself dehypnotized and realizing, “Thank You, Father; I know there is no poodle to be removed.”…

Do not become hypnotized with the appearance of a “white poodle.” There isn’t any! Do not become hypnotized with an appearance called disease or a sin. There isn’t any.

Conscious Union With God. Pages 117-119

…there are no sinful men. There is no such thing as evil in the mind of man. Evil is absolutely impersonal. Man, himself, is an incarnation of God. God is the very fiber and fabric of man’s being, and everything else is superimposed upon that perfect _expression. It is not any more a part of man’s spiritual identity than dirt is a part of the water in a pail. Even after the dirt gets into the water, it can always be removed because it never becomes water.

Evil never becomes man, nor does it become a part of man. Whatever appears to be there can be removed by anyone who realizes the impersonal nature of the appearance. That has been the secret of The Infinite Way in working with every form of sin, false appetite, disease, and all the other inharmonies that come into human experience.

There is not one of us who has a fault-and we all have them-who would not be grateful if the members of our family who know our faults, instead of blaming us or trying to reform us, would silently, secretly, and sacredly know this truth, “This is an impersonal belief in two powers, just an impersonal claim of a power apart from God. There is no mind but that mind which is the instrument of God; therefore, carnal mind is not enmity against God. It is nothing. Carnal mind is a belief in two powers, a universal belief. It is not my belief. It has no person in whom, on whom, or through whom to operate.

Practice, practice, practice, until you can look at the saint or the sinner and know that the saint never could be a saint any more than the sinner could be a sinner. Do not make the mistake of saying that there is no evil, but that all is good. Good and evil are just two ends of the same stick. “Why callest thou me good?” Do not call anyone good. Do not forget that there are no saints. God alone is good.

Realization of Oneness. From Chapter 6

QUOTES.

…we are not illumined except in the proportion that we have impersonalized and are no longer blaming persons for their troubles, regardless of what they may be.

A Message for the Ages. Page 83

…It is natural, because of a personal sense of life, to personalize evil and to believe that evil is coming to you, to the nation, or to the world through some person, group of persons, race of persons, or religion of persons. It is difficult to unburden one’s self of that personal sense of evil and to be able to see that evil is absolutely impersonal.

Seek Ye First. Page 135

All evil is impersonal: there is no person in whom, on whom, or through whom it can operate. Whether it is a claim of weather, or disease, or of lack- whatever the name or nature of the evil-it is impersonal. It does not have its rise in you, in me, or in any person, place, thing, or condition. The root of all evil is the carnal mind, or a belief that there is power in disease, lack, or sin is the hypnotism causing all the discord in the world.

The Mystical I. Page 74

When you learn to impersonalize evil, you do not have to call upon a God-power.

The Mystical I. Page79.

We impersonalize the evil so that we do not condemn ourselves or another, but we also impersonalize good so that we recognize that whatever good is flowing through us of another is really God finding outlet and _expression.

Living the Illumined Life. Page 102

There is nobody on earth responsible for evil conditions in the world. Basically, there is no one man or woman, there are no groups of men or women of the past or of the present who are responsible for the conditions that face the world today. This is a very important point to remember, and unless we come into agreement on this point our work cannot be effective. Personalizing these evils will perpetuate them.

The world is rid of the Pharoahs, the Caesars, the Genghis Khans; the world is rid of the evil ones of the Middle Ages; the Czars are gone, Stalin is gone, Hitler is gone, and yet the evils persist and even multiply. So surely it must be evident that the solution does not lie in getting rid of whoever it is that we think is humanly responsible for our woes today.

There is no such thing as personalized evil. If you have worked with the principles of The Infinite Way, you have already that the impersonalization of evil is three quarters of all that is necessary for the healing. When you begin to perceive that, your are on the way to doing effective healing work because you will have stopped placing the cause of error in a person and will have placed it where it belongs: in the universal, impersonal mind of man, the carnal mind which is merely the belief in two powers, that which cast Adam and Eve out of Eden.

Realization of Oneness. Page 196

As long as you believe there is a God out there separate and apart from your being, just so long do you personalize God and set up the picture of an entity, identity, or a being outside of you. God is being, but not a being. God is being you and being me. So to set up a God separate from that Being produces the sense of separation that keeps us in ignorance.
